Illinois has no shortage of abandoned buildings. Some have been revamped and used for something new, others sit with decades of decaying memories.

Maybe it's just me, but wastefulness makes me incredibly sad and disappointed. Especially when it comes to places and things that are costly or harbor a lot of nostalgia. It's hard for me to see them abandoned.

Hence why Decaying Midwest is one of my favorite social media pages. I've written a lot of content about places in the area that they've explored. This time, it involves a school right here in the state of Illinois.

Decaying Midwest Explores an Abandoned School in Illinois

School is something that I believe every single person has important memories of. Both really good and others absolutely terrible.

The second I saw this abandoned school, a flood of emotion and nostalgia hit me. It's like no matter if it's the exact place you went to, it's all got the same vibe. The cafeteria/gym, the glass case of trophies, school books, desks, lab tables, those God-awful rubber balls from gym class that hurt like hell when they hit you during dodgeball... and yes, I can literally smell them just by looking at a photo!

Despite my ambivalent feelings about schools and being grateful to be done, it still hurts to see one abandoned and deteriorating.
