5 Spring Things That Every Illinois Resident Dreads
Winter haters in Illinois are rejoicing because Spring is almost here, but there are 4 unfortunate things that come along with the season. Better start to prepare yourself now.
Best Things About Spring in Illinois
I think most Illinoisans would agree that winter 202/2025 has treated us pretty nicely. (KNOCK ON WOOD!)
We didn't get a ton of snow and we only had to endure a handful of bitterly cold days. We may still have a few weeks of winter left, but I think it's safe to say the worst parts of winter are behind us. Some weather experts even agree...
As I sit and write this the sun is shining, the weather is warmer, I even hear a few birds chirping outside. Spring excitement is starting to take over, then I look out the window and remember 4 of the worst things about spring are coming too.
What Illinoisans Dread Most About Spring
Spring may bring warmer weather, baseball games, flowers, and outdoor fun, but it also brings these 4 things that absolutely suck.
1. Mud
I don't know what your yard looks like right now, but mine is a muddy, dog-poop-filled mess. It's ugly to look at, and I'm already sick of cleaning my dogs' paws off every time they go outside.
2. Potholes
It's no secret that the Rockford area has an infamous pothole problem, but so do most other cities throughout the Midwest. I've already seen work crews out filling potholes, but you still need to keep a close eye on the road so you don't pop a tire...or worse.
3. Construction Season
Get ready to set your alarm for a little earlier each day because road construction will be resuming in Illinois soon, and that means more traffic headaches.
4. Allergies
If you managed to make it through the winter without catching the norovirus or flu, allergies are coming to steal some of your sick days.
If you are now mad at me for pooing all over your spring-loving excitement, just hear me out. Enduring these 4 bad things will be well worth it once the trees start to bud, the flowers start to bloom, and we all dig out the outdoor patio furniture again!
