A busy Rockford street will be temporarily closed later this week as crews complete water main repairs along the corridor.
Temporary Street Closure Set for October 31
According to the press release, Rural Street in Rockford will close to through traffic between Regan Street and North Prospect Street on Friday, October 31, beginning at 7 am.

Through traffic will be directed to Crosby Street via Summit Street and North Prospect Street. Access for residents and businesses within the affected area will remain open.
Motorists traveling through the construction area should be alert for detour routes, which are clearly posted at both ends of the closure zone.
Work Completion and Safety Reminders
The City of Rockford expects to have all work finished by the end of the day Friday (10/31), pending weather conditions.
Officials remind drivers to obey posted work zone speed limits and remain alert for construction workers and equipment throughout the day.
Businesses Remain Open During Construction
Despite the temporary closure, all businesses along Rural Street will remain open and accessible to customers.
According to the press release, the City of Rockford is encouraging residents to continue supporting businesses during the project, which should be completed by the end of this Friday (10/31).
