Senseless violence in Rockford has taken the lives of two young people with one female dead, and the suspect likely going to prison for life.

According to the press release from the Rockford Police Department, officers responded to the 4900 block of Linden Road around 5:49 pm on Tuesday (5/7) for a report of "a gunshot victim, possibly self-inflicted."

Once on the scene, officers discovered a deceased 19-year-old female

After investigating the scene on LInden Road, Rockford Police officers were able to identify a 20-year-old suspect in the shooting who was known to the victim, according to the report.

Further charges in this case could come at a later date, according to Rockford PD.

Rockford Police said the charges against Bell are "merely accusations and all individuals are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law."
