Living in Northern Illinois can be a little weird in early September due to the often fluctuating weather conditions. One day it will be blazing hot and feel like August, then 24 hours later we'll be lucky if we hit a high in the low 60s.

Many people might think of sunflowers as a mid-summer delight, but right now the massive sunflower field at Richardson Adventure Farm is just getting started. It is also FAR from your average sunflower field...

Our sunflower field has been planted with intricate trails throughout the entire 13 acre field.
There are the traditional big yellow- headed ones, and also bright red multi-branched plants, and even orange, peach and gold blossoms! There are 24 varieties in all and lots of types not usually seen.

Richardson Adventure Farm's Sunflower Festival typically runs through mid-October, BUT it all depends on if Mother Nature plays along.
