It's the annual fundraiser for an elementary school in northern Illinois that allows one of their students to become "Principal for a Day," and this year, a 5th grader took control of daily operations.

Selected in a live drawing by the Roscoe PTO, 5th grader Norah Sturm of Kinnikinnick School became Principal Sturm on April 23, and began her day with a ride to school in a Harlem-Roscoe Fire Truck.

Arriving early, Norah was immediately handed the duties from Mrs. Miller, who is normally the school principal.

But on this day, Ms. Sturm was in charge of the drop-off line, getting the playground gear put away, and making sure all the students were safely inside the school so the day could begin.

After changing Miller Mobile to Sturm Station, Norah made the rounds to collect attendance records and say hello to each class.

As Principal for the Day, Ms. Sturm got to pick a rule for the school and send a message out to all the parents, letting them know that everyone gets to wear pajamas to class.

Ms. Sturm also selected Culver's as her special lunch that would be delivered, and she said it was selected because she loves their ice cream.
