QuikTrip Opens 2nd Rockford Location, Here’s What Makes It Different From Kwik Trip

QuikTrip gas station opened its first location in Rockford, Illinois over a year ago, but residents are still confusing it with Wisconsin's beloved Kwik Trip gas stations. Let's set the record straight.

QuikTrip vs. Kwik Trip

When the announcement was first made that QuikTrip would be opening two new gas station locations in the Rockford area, people lost their minds with excitement, primarily because they didn't read the fine print.

By fine print I mean the QuikTrip with a Q, not Kwik Trip with a K part.

QuikTrip with a Q is an Oklahoma based company, Kwik Trip with a K is headquartered in Wisconsin. QuikTrip has over 800 stores in 10 different states, Kwik Trip has around 600 mostly in Wisconsin, Iowa, and Minnesota. (Here's where things get a little confusing. Minus the Kwik Trip in South Beloit,  the few stores Kwik Trip does own in Illinois are actually called Kwik Stars.)

QuikTrip's Arrival in Rockford

In Spring of 2023, QuikTrip broke ground on their first gas station in Rockford at the corner of East State Street and Lyford, and in April 2024 it finally opened.

Full disclosure, I have not been INSIDE Rockford's first QwikTrip gas station yet, but I have filled my gas tank there, because they often offer they cheapest gas prices in the Rockford area!

This is the reason I was stoked to see that QwikTrip's second Rockford location near the former Kmart on Sandy Hollow Road is finally open, and cheap gas prices isn't the only thing QwikTrip with a Q has going for it.

Reasons to Love QwikTrip

Both of Rockford's QwikTrip locations feature kitchens that serve up tasty delights like fresh donuts, soft pretzels, and pizza by the slice, but they also offer "Quik’n Tasty" sandwiches, like Texas Ham and Cheese, BarBQ Pork Rib, and the Super Po Boy, and HOTZI breakfast sandwiches.

QuikTrip also has a sense of humor...

AND donuts that go on sale at 3 p.m. every day...
