If you've been enjoying these cool mornings and fall-like temperatures around the Rockford region, it kind of makes you hope the hot days of summer have come to a close.

But, we're not going to get that lucky according to the current Weather Channel forecast.

Temps About to Go On the Rise Into the Weekend

On Friday (9/1) temperatures will remain comfortable throughout the Rockford region with highs expected to be in the lower 80s.

For the second day of September (Saturday), we're expected to hit 90 in Rockford and around Chicagoland. Sunday and Monday it will remain hot with highs expected in the mid-90s on both days.

Highs will stay in the upper 80s and lower 90s through the middle of next week in Rockford before thunderstorms are possible on Wednesday afternoon and evening.

When Will it Feel Like Fall in Rockford?

The current extended forecast for the Forest City from the National Weather Service predicts temperatures will cool back off after a chance of a thunderstorm next Wednesday 9/6.

High temperatures are expected to be in the lower 80s and lows in the 50s by next Thursday (9/7) in Rockford and highs in the mid-70s are expected in Chicago and along the lake.
