Letters sent by Commission Chair Judge Ruben Castillo target key figures, including Stephen Miller, Tom Homan, Kristi Noem, and Corey Lewandowski, among others.

The inquiry centers on claims of aggressive and potentially unlawful federal enforcement tactics carried out in Chicago and throughout Illinois.

Pritzker Pushes for Accountability

Governor JB Pritzker said the commission was created to document what he describes as "violations of Illinoisans' rights" during the operation. He emphasized that those involved must answer publicly, regardless of whether they still hold federal positions.

The commission is examining how the operation was planned, authorized, and executed, with a focus on identifying decision-makers and evaluating whether safeguards were in place to protect residents.

Hearings Set to Uncover Key Details

Judge Castillo said the hearings aim to establish a clear record of events and determine accountability if misconduct is confirmed. The investigation will scrutinize policy decisions, public statements, and operational directives that may have contributed to escalating enforcement tactics.

Two public hearings are scheduled for April 27 and April 28, with a final report due April 30 under the governor's executive order.
