Illinois Homeowners, These 2 Things Will Get Rid of Asian Ladybeetles Fast
Are you tired of Asian Ladybeetles invading your home? I think I may have found the only two things you need to get rid of them for good!
Illinois Pet Problems
Can I let you into a common pest argument we have in my home? It has to do with getting rid of Asian Ladybeetles which my husband thinks are this...
And my kids think are this...
But I know are this...
All winter and into early spring I fight a losing battle with Asian Ladybeetles in my home.
I vacuum them up.
I feed them to my kids' pet toads.
My dogs probably eat them.
I hate these stinky, little ladybug imposters with a passion, and I am desperate to find a way to keep them out of my house permanently.
How to Get Rid of Asian Ladybeetles In Your Home
When it comes to bug problems at my house, our first line of defense is hedge apples.
Every fall we place hedge apples by our basement windows and around the foundation outside our home to keep pests like mice, spiders, boxelder bugs, stink bugs, and Asian Ladybeetles out of our house, and the apples work...until they rot.
Before we gave in and called a pest control company, my husband and I wanted to try some more DIY things to eliminate our Asian Ladybeetle problems.
An article from The Pest Rangers lists 9 things people can do to rid their homes of ladybugs and Asian ladybeetles that include things like:
- Winterizing your home by plugging foundation holes, sealing doors, and caulking windows. (we have already done this..still have bugs).
- Keeping your yard trim because these beetles like to hang out in overgrown outdoor areas when it's warm out. (Our yard is very trim...still have bugs).
- Turning outdoor lights off at night. (We have outdoor lights that come on, and stay on when it's dark. Perhaps we need to change that).
Just when I started to fear that we've tried everything to get rid of these nasty little beetles I saw this post come up on my Facebook feed...
Could water and lemon juice truly be the answers I have been looking for?!?
Some people commented that wiping window and door frames down with straight Pine Sol works too...have you ever tried this before? Is it worth the effort? Please send me an app message and let me know!
