Rockford Police Arrest Two After Guilford High School Gun Scare
Two men have been arrested after a frightening incident for students at a Rockford high school on Friday (9/5).
Report of Gun Near School Sparks Police Response
Rockford PD officers were called to Guilford High School on Friday afternoon after a report that a car was circling the campus with an occupant waving a handgun.

According to the press release, a School Resource Officer (SRO) immediately responded to the school's parking lot, but the vehicle fled the area before officers could make contact.
Police Locate Suspects and Recover Loaded Handgun
Two additional SROs later located the vehicle with two occupants near Alpine Road and East State Street, and conducted a traffic stop.
During the stop, officers recovered a loaded handgun from the passenger, later identified as 19-year-old Jazairon Flanagan of Rockford. According to the press release, the firearm had no serial number.
Charges Authorized Against Two Rockford Men
Following a review of the case, the Winnebago County State's Attorney's Office authorized multiple charges against Flanagan, including:
- Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon
- Possession of a Firearm with No Serial Number
- Disorderly Conduct
- Criminal Trespass
The driver, identified as 19-year-old Malakai Holman of Rockford, was charged with Criminal Trespass.
Both men were lodged in the Winnebago County Jail, according to the press release.
