How to Unlock The Door to Chicago’s Hidden Magic Speakeasy
Looking for a unique Chicago experience that will fascinate you all night long? Check out the Chicago Magic Lounge...if you can find it.
Chicago's Magical Speakeasy
When you hear the term "speakeasy" what comes to mind?
For me it's a dark, hidden bar filled with gangster-style décor and a unique cocktail menu, but when it comes to the Chicago Magic Lounge, I'm only partly correct.
The Chicago Magic Lounge appears to be the perfect mix of speakeasy charm and magical entertainment, but the part that fascinates me the most is how to find it.
Converted from a 1940s-era, commercial laundry building, the Chicago Magic Lounge is a 7,200 square-foot, deco-style, state-of-the-art theater and lounge, featuring a 1930s-style, speakeasy performance bar, a 107-seat cabaret theater, and a formal close-up gallery named The 654 Club. Every inch is designed and polished in this elegant new nightclub.
In case you haven't figured it out by now, the door to the Chicago Magic Lounge is hides within a laundromat! (That you can find at 5050 N. Clark Street.)
When you get inside, you can enjoy specialty cocktails while magicians walk around doing card tricks and other illusions right in front of you, but the main attraction is the Cabaret Theater.
Hey Chicago says:
The main showroom is an intimate, 120-seat cabaret theater where every seat feels close to the action. The nightly performances are a masterful blend of world-class sleight-of-hand, comedy, and captivating storytelling. It’s a polished, professional show that consistently wows even the biggest skeptics.
Chicago Magic Lounge also features a smaller, 40-seat theater for a more front-row experience, and acts in both theaters change all the time so you're always bound to see something new.
