It's Thanksgiving week, and if you are heading anywhere near Chicago this week, you might want to time it right because O'Hare is getting ready for what is going to be the busiest travel week in its seventy-year history.

Nearly 2 Million Travelers Expected at O'Hare and Midway

They say nearly 2 million people will pass through O'Hare and Midway between now and Monday. What does that mean officially? You know. Tons of cars on the roads. With long lines everywhere, and lots of people trying to get to point A and then point B before the turkey gets cold and dries out.

FAA Expects the Most Thanksgiving Flights in 15 Years

The Chicago Department of Aviation says the biggest crowds will start today, Tuesday, and keep on growing throughout the weekend, while the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration also says to expect the most Thanksgiving flights in the past fifteen years, so it's not just an O'Hare or Midway thing, it's a United States issue.

What Rockford Travelers Should Avoid This Weekend

As for Rockford, it's simple. If you want to avoid the dilemma and delays, stay out of the city on Sunday. That is apparently the peak travel day at both airports in Chicago, with departures and arrivals meaning tons of traffic and slowdown on I-90, which means it could be a harrowing travel day if you are coming back from a holiday trip and the one most likely to test your patience, so please don't do it.

Early Delays Already Hitting O'Hare and Midway

Right now, delays are already being reported at O'Hare, and Midway has reported some, too. This is only the start of the Thanksgiving travel season. If you want to dodge the mess, keep one eye on the forecast and the other on the traffic, if possible.
