
Shut Down: This BBQ Joint Is History Post-Rockford Closure
Another restaurant chain bit the dust, and this one we kind of saw coming.
That’s because while plenty of closures have already hit this place, the Rockford location has been closed since January, and we should've all seen this coming.

Bankruptcy and the Future of the East State Street Location
Looks like after that one closed, Smokey Bones realized they weren’t long for this world. That’s because they’ve officially closed down all locations.
That’s right, every Smokey Bones is now closed, and employees of those restaurants found out the worst way possible, the same day they shuttered. Yikes.
The parent company of both Smokey Bones and Twin Peaks entered Chapter 11 bankruptcy. What’s next is anyone’s guess. The popular speculation was that the former Smokey Bones at 6690 East State in Rockford would eventually be turned into a Twin Peaks, even The Takeout agreed, but now, who knows?

Why 'Fine' BBQ Wasn't Enough to Survive in Rockford
One thing is for sure, Smokey Bones was decent BBQ. I really had no complaints, but there was nothing on the menu that absolutely blew my wig back, making me keep coming back. It was always “fine.”
It also didn’t help that Rockford is loaded with good BBQ options, and customers went elsewhere.
