There is sad and then there is just down right depressing.  This is one of those moments.

YouTube is a very powerful place, we know that every time someone uploads a video there's always a chance for it to blow up and go viral for the entire world to see.  I'm always excited when it's a video about Illinois or even my hometown because that means it hits home way more.

Obviously, nobody wants to see their own town look bad on the internet, especially if it means a business or building looking run down.  Well, in a video I recently came across... they definitely couldn't say anything to make it look like this Illinois mall was thriving in any way, shape, or form.  It says it for itself.

The Most Depressing Mall In America

Stratford Square Mall in Bloomingdale, Illinois.

Back in March, this guy filmed the entire mall to give you a glimpse of what it's come to look like after all these years.  Not long before this was filmed there were over 110 stores to shop at!  Today? Just 40 left.

Honestly, it looks depressing the further you see the rest of the mall.  The only thing I actually saw that would cheer me up inside this place is the coin game.  Remember?  You put the quarter in the slot and your coin spins until it drops into a hole.  Yeah, the good ol' days!!!

The was even a giant bowling alley and arcade inside Stratford Square Mall at one time.  Where's all the traffic now?

This looks like it was really fun to go to way back in the day with friends!

One of the only big box retailers still open is Burlington Coat Factory.  Tons of merchandise, but how much do they make in sales?  Are they losing money staying open than shutting down?

This was probably the busiest store in the entire building!  Even then it wasn't that busy.

You can really see the outdatedness of around this mall.  If your mall has massage chairs and gumball machine stations, you're one of the lucky ones.  They were easily the two best stops to visit when I was a kid haha.

As we make our way through the Stratford Square Mall, it starts to get worse... dramatically fast.  Take a look at the rest of the shopping center that has gone down hill since being a product of the pandemic.

It took so many shops out of business and now there's really only activity stores like axe throwing and escape rooms!  Gallery and video below.
