Just like the Real ID, the date for this thing just got pushed back too.

To be fair, I wasn't in a hurry to replace my current transponder with the new sticker version from the Illinois Tollway.

Another Two-Year Extension for the Sticker Transponder

If you're like me, you'll have some more time before you need to make the switch.

That's because the deadline to get one of those new-fangled sticker tag transponder doohickeys has been pushed back.

Deadline Dodging, Illinois Tollway Style

Get this: the Illinois Tollway isn't just giving you a few months to sort it out; they are extending the deadline by two years.

With this two-year extension, it's easy to imagine putting off the switch to the sticker tag, only to be reminded when the deadline is just around the corner.

Sticker Transponder Drawbacks

That is until someone with the Illinois Tollway decides to push it back another few years. Who knows, right? It's like a never-ending game of deadline dodgeball.

The real reason why this whole thing is not my best is because it's a sticker. Where the old IPass could bounce from car to car, this one is stuck to your windshield.

Ready to Upgrade Now? Here’s Where to Get One

If you're unlike me and not a major slacker, you can still (and the state of Illinois encourages you to) pick up your sticker transponder dealio at Jewel-Osco and Road Ranger locations, the Customer Service Center, and the Illinois Tollway website.

So, what's your game plan? What do you think you'll have first crossed off your "to-do list"? The new Real ID or swapping out your IPass sticker?
