Now Open! Free Ice Skating At Rockford’s Nicholas Conservatory
It's officially cold enough for skating at the Eclipse Lagoon at Rockford's Nicholas Conservatory! Who's ready to get on the ice?
I was driving past Nicholas Conservatory yesterday when I saw two people on the Lagoon pushing a hockey net onto the ice. I thought, "I don't think it's cold enough yet to be on the ice, are they crazy?!"
Then, I get on Facebook and see Nicholas Conservatory post a photo of the same people pushing the net across the ice with the caption, "The Eclipse Lagoon is OPEN for skating!"
Here's everything you need to know to have a great time down at the Conservatory.
Lagoon Eclipse Open For Skating At Rockford's Nicholas Conservatory
Don't worry, the ice conditions are checked daily for the public's safety. If you want to check the status whether it's open or closed each day, you can check their website!
The hockey nets are out, parking lot is open until 10pm, and skate rentals are currently unavailable at this time, but coming soon.
Here's more info I found on Nicholas Conservatory's website.
Hockey is available at the north end of the lagoon only. Goals are provided and available on a first come, first served basis.
Heated restrooms are available at the outdoor pavilion.
Ice skating and hockey at the lagoon is FREE.
Stay safe, parental supervision is a must, there's no Park District supervision on the ice, but have a fun time!
Woke up this morning and realized it's totally freezing outside and definitely cold enough to get out on the ice! I won't be out there because I'd break a leg, but you go enjoy yourself.
