Wisconsin Woman’s Prom Dress Donated by Mistake—Have You Seen It?
A Wisconsin woman is on a mission to find her prom dress that was mistakenly donated without her permission. Have you seen it?
Jessica Hagman shared her story in a Facebook group I'm in, hoping for a little help locating her prom dress. Luckily, I'm in a neighboring state, Illinois, and know donated items around our region don't last long when they hit the sales floor... and they travel far, fast. Wisconsin and Illinois are full of thrifters and resellers, so I wouldn't be surprised if her gorgeous dress was bought within hours.
In her post she shares, "getting it back would mean the absolute world to me" and she is willing to pay the new owner more than what they paid just to have it returned to her.
Jessica shared why it's so important she get her prom dress returned to her. It's not just a dress; it's a reminder of all the beautiful memories she had with her late mom picking out the dress together.
"The dress brand is Clarisse and I got it in 2018. It was donated to Goodwill in New Richmond Wisconsin."
"My mom recently passed away and my childhood home where they [Jessica's parents] still lived and I grew up in was listed for sale and sold a little over a month ago. Once the house sold my dad was going through all of my mom’s stuff and found her pageant dresses and other formal dresses that were in her section of the closet and grabbed them all and donated them. However, my prom dresses were in that section of the closet so they were grabbed with the other dresses and donated. The dress for me is a physical thing that I want because it reminds me of the memories I have with my mom from picking out the dress with her and something we had done together!"

I also shared the story on TikTok and some of my followers went back to that New Richmond location and double-checked the racks, with no luck. The search continues!
