Western Illinois Golf Course To Reopen After 7-Year Hiatus
There will be another place to golf this summer.
Just in time for warmer weather and forgetting to wear sunscreen, a Quad Cities golf course is making a comeback. After closing in September 2018, the Rock Island Arsenal Golf Course is reopening to the public soon!
According to the Arsenal, the course is the second oldest golf course in the state of Illinois. The original course opened in 1897 and the new one will mostly feature the holes from that original course.
Now, the Arsenal golf course will feature 9 holes. It reopens to the public on April 26th.
You'll be able to get annual passes for $800 and $1,450 for families. For individual 9-holes, it will be $17. Carts are available for $10 on the 9-holes.
There are different rates for service members and civilians who work on the island.
Arsenal commander Colonel William J. Parker III said in a press release:
We invite the community to join us as we open our reconfigured course. We look forward to having one more community activity available to not only those that work on the Arsenal, but also our surrounding community in the Quad Cities.
The Arsenal golf course is operating out of Building 60 at the corner of North Avenue and Gillespie Street. You have to have an Arsenal Island Visitor Pass to enter the base but that's not hard to get. Bring your Real ID and social security number to the Visitor's Welcome Center at 23 Prospect Drive (the Moline gate) from 7:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. daily.
