The massive amount of rain that we've been having in Rockford is no joke. If you're like me, you're lucky enough to have slept through it. However, the remnants of the weather are apparent and jarring.

The conditions we've been going through are serious, and I feel for anyone who was in the area where the major flooring occurred. It's easy to be naive and shrug off the weather alerts, but reality sets in when you see firsthand how bad things can be when we get heavy rain.

I was so tired that I slept through the entire storm last night. Thankfully, my electricity didn't go out and only flickered one time throughout the storm. I woke up feeling super lucky because I also didn't see any trees down in my neighborhood.

But, I took to social media and found out very quickly that that was not the case for everyone. I quite literally gasped seeing these photos released by the Rockford Fire Department on Facebook.

Rockford Fire Department Releases Photos of Flooding Damage

The fire department received over 120 calls for aid during the flash flooding event that we had. They spent the entire night helping people, doing wellness checks and much more. The team also stated that a majority of the flooding happened in the Keith Creek area.

It's scary to think about, and seeing this left me unable to even imagine the long night that their team had.
