Anything abandoned has eerie vibes to it. But I think this abandoned haunted house in Illinois takes the cake for being the creepiest of all!

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Decaying Midwest is one of my favorite accounts to follow when it comes to spooky abandoned places. Sometimes it's sad to see what's been left behind. Other times, it's downright scary.

I think I'm confident in saying that police departments alone aren't somewhere people want to visit. Imagine that... but abandoned.

This abandoned police department in Illinois was turned into a haunted house. A few years after being used during Halloween, it wound up being abandoned again.

Not only has this place been deserted twice now, but all of the decor from the haunted house still sits in the building untouched. Adding a whole new level of weird and creepy to the place.

If decor like this scares you, maybe look the other way. But this place reminds me of when I used to volunteer at haunted houses growing up! I don't think I ever had such a fun job.

Typically, I'm not a fan of when places leave junk behind. However, this has a whole different level of weirdness to it that I think I don't mind. I wouldn't want these cursed belongings anywhere near me!
